In order to receive the documents you need to apply for your F-1 visa or be approved for an I-20 extension, you must prove that you are able to pay for the cost of schooling and living expenses while in the United States. Funding can come from your own resources or from another individual. International students have limited work opportunities, so you should not expect to work to pay expenses.

If you are planning to use your own resources to pay for your program, please complete and return the Affidavit of Financial Support form. If someone else will pay for your program, complete and return the Affidavit of Financial Sponsorship form. If you and another person are sharing the cost of the program, please complete and return both forms, indicating the amount that each will provide. Along with the affidavits, each sponsor will need to provide an original bank letter demonstrating funds sufficient to cover the costs of the program. Click here to see a sample bank letter.

To determine the cost of your studies abroad, please refer to the Tuition and Fees Table for the academic expenses for your program and the Economics Policy Institute Family Budget calculator for the cost of living in the Miami area for one year. To determine the amount you’ll need to pay for your expenses for the first year of your program, multiply the tuition and fees per semester by the number of semesters in your first year (Albizu University operates on three semesters per year). Add that to the annual cost of your living expenses from the Family Budget calculator. The total amount listed on the financial support form(s) you submit must equal this amount.

To determine the amount you’ll need to pay for your expenses under an I-20 extension, multiply the tuition and fees per semester by the number of semesters remaining in your program. If you have more than three semesters remaining, calculate the amount for the first remaining year only. Add that to the annual cost of your living expenses from the Family Budget calculator or—if you have less than one year to complete—multiply the monthly cost of living from the calculator by the number of months remaining in your program. The total amount listed on the financial support form(s) you submit must equal this amount.

If you need assistance in determining the financial cost of your program or completing your form, contact your Albizu University admissions officer/PDSO.
