About Our Libraries

Welcome to the Albizu University libraries: the Biblioteca Dr. Carlos Albizu-Miranda on the San Juan campus, the Albizu Library on the Miami campus, and the Biblioteca del Centro de Mayagüez. As a student at our university, you will find your campus library to be a welcoming place, staffed by experts who are committed to helping you achieve your academic goals.

Our libraries support teaching, learning, and research by providing access to recorded knowledge through the acquisition, organization, interpretation, and preservation of information appropriate to the current and future needs of those served.

The libraries honor the memory of the university’s founder and first president, Dr. Carlos Albizu-Miranda. They are designed to provide dynamic learning centers on each campus, with holdings that are closely aligned with the academic offerings of the university.

The general collections in Miami and San Juan include books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, atlases, print periodicals, audiovisual materials and equipment, psychological tests, and online databases. The libraries are valued for their strong, specialized collections in the fields of clinical psychology, forensic psychology, neuropsychology, cross-cultural psychology, family therapy, counseling, mental health, industrial and organizational psychology, and general psychology. In addition, the San Juan library features an extensive collection of speech and language resources. The Miami library has a large core collection in education, the social sciences, and the general sciences to support the academic curriculum.

The Mayagüez library contains books, journals, and access to online databases. The print collections specialize in industrial and organizational psychology, general psychology, autism, and speech and language pathology.

High-speed Wi-Fi Internet access and interlibrary loans are among the services provided at each location. Our libraries are members of the Online Computer Library Center, a global cooperative that provides shared technology services, original research, and community programs for its membership and the library community at large. We also offer remote access through Cobimet to databases containing thousands of electronic periodicals and books. This resource can be accessed using your SunPortal username and password.

We invite you to visit the library on your campus and learn firsthand what we are all about. You will find us on the first floor of the university in San Juan, in Room 310 on the Miami campus, and on the first floor of the University Center in Mayagüez.
