Biography of Cynthia Garcia Coll
La Dra. Cynthia García Coll se ha desempeñado como profesora en el área de Educación, Pediatría y Psicología en Brown University. Al regresar a Puerto Rico en el 2011 ocupó varias posiciones en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, en donde laboró hasta el 2013. Es editora de la Revista Child Development (2013-2019). La Dra. García Coll ha publicado extensamente sobre las influencias socioculturales y el desarrollo de niños/as con énfasis en poblaciones bajo condiciones de riesgo y minorías. Además, es co–editora de varios libros como The Psychosocial Development of Puerto Rican Women; Puerto Rican Women and Children: Issues in Health, Growth and Development; Mothering Against the Odds: Diverse Voices of Contemporary Mothers, entre otros. Ha recibido fondos para investigación del National Institutes of Health y las fundaciones McArthur, Spencer, Gates y WT Grant. Ha recibido premios y reconocimientos de parte de la American Psychological Association (APA), el Society for Research in Child Development, el Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Tufts University and Brown University.

Intereses de investigación: Salud y desarrollo de niños/as y adolescentes; Impacto de la inmigración en los niños/as; Violencia juvenil; Desarrollo Psicosocial de la Mujer Puertorriqueña; Etnicidad y Multiculturalismo; Cambios estructurales en la familia puertorriqueña y el bienestar de padres y niños/as ,adolescentes y adultos emergentes.
