Albizu University is pleased to announce an exciting new research scholar exchange program with participating international institutions. Through this program, exceptional graduate student scholars have the opportunity to visit Albizu’s Miami campus for a pre-determined period and receive specialized research training by assisting faculty with ongoing research projects in their respective areas of expertise. Fall 2016

Mario Gálvez-Lara is a doctoral student in the Psychology Department at the University of Córdoba in Spain. He obtained a master’s degree in neuroscience and pain from the University of Granada in Spain and a master’s degree in applied clinical psychology from the Higher Institute of Psychology, also in Granada, Spain. Mario’s line of research is focused on the context of evidence-based psychological treatments and clinical psychology. An additional line of his research is cross-cultural neuropsychology. The findings from his research have been disseminated in numerous professional presentations and peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology [Gálvez-Lara et al. (2015). “Validation of the Cross-Linguistic Naming Test: A naming test for different cultures? A preliminary study in the Spanish population”]. His private practice focuses on child and adolescent psychotherapy. While visiting Albizu University, Miami Campus, Mario collaborated with Senior Research Professor Steven Proctor on a study examining the clinical utility and psychometric performance of a brief addictions screen in identifying risk for DSM-5 substance use disorder among adolescents involved a state juvenile justice system.
