Scholarships
Scholarships are funds awarded on the basis of various criteria, usually including merit. They do not need to be repaid. Scholarship opportunities are listed below for both undergraduate and graduate students and for students at the Miami and San Juan campuses.
Scholarships for Undergraduates
Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program (Miami) – The Florida Department of Education awards college scholarships to Florida high school students based on academic transcripts and SAT/ACT scores. Applications are submitted during the last year of high school, and a specified GPA must be maintained in order to receive the award. Once enrolled at a college or university, recipients receive a fixed cost per credit hour based on award level, institution type, and credit type, with a bonus given for exceptional academic work.
Scholarships for Undergraduates and Graduate Students
Institutional Scholarship (San Juan/Miami) – The Albizu University Institutional Scholarships provide assistance to graduate and undergraduate students with financial need and recognize current and incoming AU students who demonstrate academic excellence. Up to $1,500 is awarded per scholarship. If you are a full-time student enrolled in a degree-granting AU program, have satisfactory academic progress and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the undergraduate level or 3.5 at the graduate level, and can demonstrate financial need, apply now by completing and submitting theInstitutional Scholarship form with all required documentation. Scholarship applications are due by June 30 each year.
Presidential Scholarship (San Juan/Miami) – The Albizu University Presidential Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: financial hardship, contributions of the applicant to institutional development, under-representation within a given profession, student representation in international professional associations and organizations, civic record of the applicant, or any other hardship or special consideration. Presidential Scholarships are awarded at the sole discretion of the president of Albizu University.
Puerto Rico Economic Assistance Programs (San Juan) – These grants are provided by the Puerto Rico Council of Education and are available to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and maintain satisfactory academic progress according to institutional policies. To participate in this program, you must complete the FAFSA on or before the established deadlines.
Scholarships for Graduate Students
Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (San Juan) – This program provides funds to assist Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology students from disadvantaged backgrounds and does not require repayment. The scholarship is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Funds are awarded each academic year. To be eligible, you must be a Puerto Rican citizen or eligible non-citizen, be enrolled full-time in the Psy.D program, meet specified criteria, demonstrate need, and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Applications must be requested at the AU Financial Aid Office.
