1. University Admission
All financial aid applicants must be admitted to Albizu University as degree-seeking students.

2. Financial Aid Application
To apply for financial aid, you must submit the following documents by the deadline specified in the Student Academic Calendar:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): Complete the application on the FAFSA website, which you can link to hereThe school code for Albizu University’s San Juan campus is 010724 and the Miami campus is E00616. You are required to complete the FAFSA to apply for Title IV grants as well as for student loans. The information received from your FAFSA is the official indicator used by AU to grant any federal, state, and/or institutional aid. You must use the data on your most recently submitted IRS tax return to complete your FAFSA. The electronic FAFSA is signed using an FSA ID, which you can obtain by clicking here.
  • Albizu University Loan Request Form
  • Proof of citizenship (if requested)
  • Other documents as requested by the Financial Aid Office

3. Entrance Counseling for Student Loans
If you are applying for a federal student loan, you must complete entrance counseling, which ensures that you understand the responsibilities and obligations you are assuming. 4. Financial Aid Receipt and Maintenance

  • Awards are made based on projected enrollment as listed on the Albizu University Loan Request Form.
  • You must be enrolled in at least half-time (not including repeated courses) in order to be eligible for financial aid. (Exceptions: Dissertation and Internship)
  • You must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • If you receive financial aid not shown on the award notice, you must report it to the Financial Aid Office, as an adjustment may be required.
  • If your award letter includes a Federal Direct Loan, you may expect disbursement of the awarded amount less origination fees (approximately 3%).
  • You may cancel all or a portion of your financial aid award by providing written notice to the Financial Aid Office.

5. Financial Aid Disbursement
Any financial aid controlled by Albizu University (federal and institutional grants, scholarships, and Direct Student Loans transmitted by EFT) will be credited to your student account as soon as an enrollment audit has been completed, aid adjustments have been made, and funds have been received (usually between the third and eighth week of the session). Awards are adjusted according to enrollment status. Federal Work-Study Program funds will be paid to you bi-weekly for the actual hours worked.

6. Financial Aid Reimbursement
If the total financial aid disbursed exceeds direct charges for a session, you may receive a reimbursement check or electronic transfer for the remaining balance. Reimbursements are processed by the Albizu University Finance Office. You are responsible for notifying the Finance Office of any address changes.
